Busch signs 2-year deal with Stewart Haas as silly season continues

Good evening everyone and welcome to this news update. Sorry for not showing a picture, but I wanted to try this without a pic. So here is the "silly season" updates you might want to know for 2014:

1. Juan Pablo Montoya will not be back in the #42 Chevy for Ganassi Racing next year. A driver for that car has yet to be announced.

2. Kevin Harvick will go to Stewart Haas Racing next year driving the #4 Budweiser Chevy SS.

3. Michael Waltrip Racing crew chief for the #55 Aaron's Toyota Rodney Childers announced he would leave the team to go to Stewart Haas Racing next year. Waltrip not a huge fan of the move.

4. Of course, another "silly season" that involves Stewart Haas Racing, as Ryan Newman will not be in the #39 Quicken Loans Chevy SS next year.

5. Kurt Busch signs 2-year deal with Stewart Haas Racing.

This has been a news update thanks for reading.

Its Time For: Update on Tony Stewart and his future

Good evening everyone and welcome to this update on Tony Stewart. As you have heard, Stewart broke his leg in a Sprint car crash in Iowa a couple of weeks ago. So you may be wondering, what is Stewarts future? Who will drive his car?? Well I will be happy to answer those questions. Max Papis drove his car at Watkins Glen because of his road course experience. Stewart will be out for the rest of the season. Mark Martin will drive his car 12 of the last 13 Cup races this year. This has been an update on Tony Stewart thanks for reading.

Its Time For a Special News Update: Stewart Breaks Right Leg In Sprint Car Crash

Good evening everyone and welcome to a special news update. As you may of heard, Nascar Sprint Cup driver Tony Stewart broke his right leg this past monday night in a sprint car crash in a race in iowa. Stewart had to have two surgeries which were successful. Stewart is now currently in the hospital recovering. Some people have said that Stewart is at fault for the accident, that he shouldn't of been racing sprint cars due to his ownership of Stewart-Haas Racing in the Sprint Cup Series. Nascar driver Jimmie Johnson said this week to the media: "I don't understand why people are giving him (Stewart) a hard time. I think its great what he does for the sport and he's a racer." We all hope for Stewart to recover and return to the track as soon as possible. Max Papis will be in his car for this weekends 2nd road course race at Watkins Glen International in New York. But as for the weeks to come after that, SHR doesn't have a replacement driver. Dale Earnhardt Jr suggested Regan Smith as a driver because of Smith replacing Jr late in the 2012 season because Jr had a concussion in a testing crash earlier in the year. Smith replaced Jr at the chase races Charlotte and Kansas, which led to Smith getting a full-time ride in the Nationwide Series going for the championship this year.
We only hope the best and speedy recovery for the three-time champ and hope he returns to the track as soon as possible. Get well Smoke.

It's Now Time For a New Segment Called: Nascar Explanation Wednesday

Good afternoon everyone and I know what you are thinking because I'm just that smart. You are thinking, Captain Josh isn't on here on Wednesday's, what could he be up to. Well I have an answer to that question and in fact, in this new segment that I have come up with, I will get to answer some of your questions that drive you crazy and make you want to tear your hair out and kill somebody. Well lets hope the second part doesn't happen, and I guess if want people to call you baldy, go ahead and rip your hair out. Just kidding. Anyways back to the new segment, its called Nascar Explanation Wednesday, and basically what this is about is every Wednesday I will explain a certain rule or something in that nature in Nascar like the qualifying order or the new cars for this year. Then I will ask you to leave me some questions and I will do my best to answer them. NOW IF YOU ASK HOW DRIVERS GO TO THE BATHROOM, I'LL GO AHEAD AND EXPLAIN THAT. BASICALLY WHAT I SEEN ON AN EPISODE OF ELLEN DEGENERES, JIMMIE JOHNSON SAID THAT THE DRIVERS JUST PEE THEIR PANTS. AS DISTURBING AS THAT SOUNDS, ITS TRUE. SO MAKE SURE TO LEAVE YOUR QUESTIONS IN THE COMMENTS SECTION AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE. THANK YOU. So after you read this, send in some questions, I want to be able to help with Nascar fans that may not know too much about it.

Now today I will talk about the new cars competing this year. I know you Nascar fans that may not know much about it may look at the TV and think, those cars look different than last year. Well you are right, they are. They are the new Generation 6 or "Gen 6" Nascar cars. Nascar has had 5 generations of cars before this. I will explain these cars while posting a photo to help out. ALL PHOTOS COME FROM GOOGLE. I DID NOT TAKE THESE PHOTOS.

Here is a photo of the six generations of Nascar cars. Sorry the picture is so blurry. I figured you could look at the cars. I apologize for the words being hard to read. As seen on the bottom row, you could buy a first generation car from the dealership, race it, and use it as a street car after the race, which was the 'stock' in Nascar Stock car racing. Now that kind of went away as Nascar would have the teams bring identically prepared cars to the track that the teams built from the shop. Now Nascar has the 6th generation car as shown on the top row above. Now with this car, Nascar is trying to once again bring the 'stock" back into nascar. Now the cars look like their manufacture that is being run. The new cars feature new versions of  the Toyota Camry and Ford Fusion while Chevorlet featured the new Chevy SS, which is a new rear wheel drive sedan produced by Chevy which will be in dealerships later this year.

I hope you enjoyed this new segment and please make sure to submit your questions in the comments section. This has been Nascar Explanation Wednesday, thanks for reading, and stay tuned for Nascar Trivia Friday and also stay tuned for Race Recap from Pocono.

Its TIme For: 2013 Coca-Cola 600 Recap

Good afternoon to all of my followers and welcome back to my blog. I have noticed I have some new followers and I am very glad to see that. To my new followers, welcome to my blog!!! Now its time to review this Sunday evenings Coca-Cola 600. Also an update on the other races for memorial weekend. Nico Rosberg won the Formula Grand Prix of Monaco, earning his first victory and Tony Kanaan won his first Indianapolis 500 also. Now back to the Coca-Cola 600, the longest race on the NASCAR schedule. Man memorial day weekend has a lot of racing. I also want to take the time to thank all of our men and women who fight for our country!!! Thanks to all the troops, past and present!!!
Now the race at Charlotte would have awesome pre-race ceremonies. It gave me goosebumps. The race would start with Denny Hamlin on the pole after he shattered the previous track record going 195mph!!! And that's average speed!! It was a usual start until lap 115. Fox sports had a camera floating above the quad-oval frontstretch called the Sprint Unlimited Cam. They also had a similar camera at Daytona earlier this year, and all of a sudden, as the cars were coming off of turn 4, one of the cables fell down off the camera and it was hanging down to the racetrack. Kyle Busch was the first to hit the cable and did damage to his and lots of other cars including Marcos Ambrose's #9 ford and many others.

Here is the camera that was suspended above the track. You can see the cables hanging down.

Here are some of the track crew working to get the cable out of the way. Notice the cable that the worker in the yellow suit is pulling on. That is one of the cables that the cars hit.

This is Kyle Busch taking a picture of his damaged #18 car after being the first to hit the cable. Of course he was the leader, so he was the first to hit the cable. See being the leader isn't always a good thing. Just ask Kyle Busch.

Here are a few of the cars that were damaged from the cable. Behind the pace car is Kyle Busch, and behind him is Kasey Kahne, and behind him is Matt Kenseth. Those were a few of the cars that were damaged.

That was only the beginning of the race. There would be also 2 wrecks durning the race. Dale Jr. would blow his motor and Mark Martin would get squeezed in between two cars to cause a wreck and Jimmie Johnson would spin out while below another car going into turn 3.

Here is Jimmie Johnson's spin. It also included Juan Pablo Montoya and Matt Kenseth.

Danica Patrick had a rough night, getting caught up in a wreck with Brad Kesolowski. A picture is below.

Here is Mark Martin's crash. It included Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Tony Stewart and others.

And at the end of it all, Kevin Harvick would pass Kasey Kahne to take his 2nd victory of the 2013 season.

So there is the recap everyone. I hope you enjoyed it and stay tuned for NASCAR Trivia Friday. Also tune in to the Fedex 400 at Dover this weekend, on FOX. This weekend will be the last race with FOX broadcasting, as TNT will take over for the next 6 weeks after Dover, and ESPN will cover the rest of the year. Also Kyle Busch won Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide Series History 300 at Charlotte, Kasey Kahne finished 2nd. ALL PHOTOS CAME FROM GOOGLE. I DID NOT TAKE THESE PHOTOS.This has been the Coca-Cola 600 recap, I'm Captain Josh, goodnight everybody.

Its Time For: 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Season Recap So Far

Good evening my fellow followers and I hope you are ready for the summer. I am soooo glad to be off school for while. Its also time for NASCAR to start the summer months, with a variety of tracks including the road course at Sonoma, California in June and the 2.5 mile Daytona International Speedway in July. Also TNT will start broadcasting for 6 weeks. With the summer months to go, lets recap the 2013 NASCAR season that has occurred so far.

The season began with the 55th running of the Daytona 500, a race where a female by the name of Danica Patrick would start her first 500 from the pole and a race that would debut NASCAR's new Generation 6 cup car. Jeff Gordon would start alongside Patrick on the front row. The race was good, which included a big wreck that took out stars such as Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Kasey Kahne, Kyle Busch, and many others. A picture of the wreck is posted below. Two of the three Joe Gibbs Racing drivers would suffer from engine failures late in the race. Those drivers were new driver for Gibbs Matt Kenseth, and Kyle Busch. Jimmie Johnson and his Lowe's Cheverolet SS would win his 2nd Daytona 500. Patrick would finish 8th, the highest finishing position for a female in the 500.

The next week, NASCAR headed out west to Phoenix to run the Subway Fresh FIt 500. This race was the first non-restrictor plate race for NASCAR's new Generation 6 car. This race would include a hard hit for Danica Patrick after finishing 8th in the Daytona 500, the highest finishing position of a female in the Great American Race. She would hit the outside and inside wall on the frontstretch. The race would have its normal green flag runs, but the end would have you at the edge of your seat as Carl Edwards looked to snap almost a year long winless streak. Fuel mileage was in question for Edwards and his team as he was leading when a caution with 3 laps to go!! Johnson was in 2nd. The caution set the race up for a Green-White-Checkered, a rule put into place to go into overtime to finish the race. There are 3 attempts at a Green-White-Checkered, but there was only one. Carl Edwards would hold off the competition to win the race and snap his year long winless streak.

The next few races would feature a Joe Gibbs dominance as Matt Kenseth has won at Las Vegas, Kansas, and Darlington leading the series with his 3 wins. Kyle Busch has won at Auto Club and Texas. Jimmie Johnson won at Martinsville, earning his 2nd victory of the year. Kevin Harvick won at Richmond after a late race caution would end Juan Montoya's chances of pulling off an upset. And at Talladega, David Ragan would pull off a huge victory with help from his Front Row Motorsports teammate David Gilliland. Notice both there names are David and they both are on the same team. I just thought that was funny. Never mind. And Jimmie Johnson would win the All-Star Race. Johnson leads the points with Carl Edwards in 2nd heading into the Coca-Cola 600, NASCAR's longest race. I hope you enjoyed this recap, this is Captain Josh saying good night and stay tuned for Trivia Friday this friday May 24th. Good night everybody.

NASCAR Driver Dick Trickle: Dead at 71

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog. As you may of heard, as seen in my picture and title, former NASCAR driver Dick Trickle passed away this past week after commiting suicide at a cemetary. Trickle had made 300 NASCAR starts in what was then called the Busch Series and the Winston Cup Series. He had suffered from chronic pain after losing his son a couple of years ago. While at the cemetary, a person had called the police after he felt Trickle was going to harm himself. When the police showed up, they found Trickle's body. He was 71 years old. This is very sad and I hope for the best for his family. Trickle will be missed. Tonight, in honor of Trickle, Carl Edwards will have Trickle's name on above the window instead of his. Thank you for your time.

Its Time For: 2012 Season Review with The Captain

Good evening everyone and I hope you enjoyed the 2012 Nascar season and I apologize for my absence. I had some personal issues and school to deal with but I'm back for 2013!!!! Now I hope my followers understand my absense and I hope they enjoy my blog for 2013.

Now its time to review the 2012 Nascar season.....

Cup: The championship came down to the wire at Homestead between Jimmie Johnson and Brad Kesolowski with Brad taking the 2012 title in just his 3rd full year in Cup. As you may have seen, the week before at Phoenix, Jeff Gordon and Clint Bowyer had some words and some actions towards each other. After contact off of turn 2, Gordon would wait for Bowyer a lap after and would retaliate going into turn 3 by putting Bowyer hard into the outside wall, also collecting Joey Logano as well. After the wreck, Bowyers crew had this to say on the radio: "Well that was a real act of a champion". Apparently Bowyer and his crew didn't like the retaliation at all and both crews would get into a fight in the infield while the race was under the red flag to clean up the mess from the wreck. And shockingly enough, the two drivers would finish 1st and 2nd the next week at Homestead. And the championship picture would change dramatically after contender Johnson would cut a tire and hit the wall off of turn 4, extending Kesolowski's lead going into the final race of the year. Kesolowski would have to finish 16th or better to clinch the title after winning at Chase race #1 at Chicago and #3 at Dover. Johnson had a victory at Martinsville in the chase as well. Kesolowski would clinch the title giving Roger Penske his first Cup title. Penske has a Nascar Nationwide title with Kesolowski in 2010. Johnson would end up 3rd in the Championship standings after a rear end gear burned up on his Lowes chevy.

After the Talladega race in October, Dale Earnhardt Jr would face a concussion after the big wreck on the final lap from Tony Stewart blocking a move from Michael Waltrip. Regan Smith would drive the #88 chevy at the following two races at Charlotte and Kansas.

Three tracks received brand new asphalt: Kansas, Michigan, and Pocono.

Nationwide: Ricky Stenhouse Jr. takes home his 2nd consecutive Nascar Nationwide Series championship after Elliott Sadler would have a late race crash at Phoenix the week before, ensuring Stenhouse to once again win the title. A similar situation occurred the year before in 2011 when Sadler crashed in the same spot he did in 2012.

Camping World Truck: A new champion would arise in the Nascar Camping World Truck Series as James Buescher would claim the his first title. Buescher won his first race at Kansas and would go on to sweep both Kentucky races also. Ty Dillon, who was Buescher's closest competitor for the title crashed right at the end of the race at Homestead.

Now its 2013 and we have seen a Joe Gibbs Racing/Hendrick Motorsports domination this year with Carl Edwards winning the 2nd race at Phoenix. We also have seen a new car raced this year, the new Generaton 6 or "Gen 6" Sprint Cup car. Cheverlet now runs the new SS and Ford and Toyota run new versions of the Fusion and Camry.
