Good afternoon to all of my followers and welcome back to my blog. I have noticed I have some new followers and I am very glad to see that. To my new followers, welcome to my blog!!! Now its time to review this Sunday evenings Coca-Cola 600. Also an update on the other races for memorial weekend. Nico Rosberg won the Formula Grand Prix of Monaco, earning his first victory and Tony Kanaan won his first Indianapolis 500 also. Now back to the Coca-Cola 600, the longest race on the NASCAR schedule. Man memorial day weekend has a lot of racing. I also want to take the time to thank all of our men and women who fight for our country!!! Thanks to all the troops, past and present!!!
Now the race at Charlotte would have awesome pre-race ceremonies. It gave me goosebumps. The race would start with Denny Hamlin on the pole after he shattered the previous track record going 195mph!!! And that's average speed!! It was a usual start until lap 115. Fox sports had a camera floating above the quad-oval frontstretch called the Sprint Unlimited Cam. They also had a similar camera at Daytona earlier this year, and all of a sudden, as the cars were coming off of turn 4, one of the cables fell down off the camera and it was hanging down to the racetrack. Kyle Busch was the first to hit the cable and did damage to his and lots of other cars including Marcos Ambrose's #9 ford and many others.
Here is the camera that was suspended above the track. You can see the cables hanging down.
Here are some of the track crew working to get the cable out of the way. Notice the cable that the worker in the yellow suit is pulling on. That is one of the cables that the cars hit.
This is Kyle Busch taking a picture of his damaged #18 car after being the first to hit the cable. Of course he was the leader, so he was the first to hit the cable. See being the leader isn't always a good thing. Just ask Kyle Busch.
Here are a few of the cars that were damaged from the cable. Behind the pace car is Kyle Busch, and behind him is Kasey Kahne, and behind him is Matt Kenseth. Those were a few of the cars that were damaged.
That was only the beginning of the race. There would be also 2 wrecks durning the race. Dale Jr. would blow his motor and Mark Martin would get squeezed in between two cars to cause a wreck and Jimmie Johnson would spin out while below another car going into turn 3.
Here is Jimmie Johnson's spin. It also included Juan Pablo Montoya and Matt Kenseth.
Danica Patrick had a rough night, getting caught up in a wreck with Brad Kesolowski. A picture is below.
Here is Mark Martin's crash. It included Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Tony Stewart and others.
And at the end of it all, Kevin Harvick would pass Kasey Kahne to take his 2nd victory of the 2013 season.
So there is the recap everyone. I hope you enjoyed it and stay tuned for NASCAR Trivia Friday. Also tune in to the Fedex 400 at Dover this weekend, on FOX. This weekend will be the last race with FOX broadcasting, as TNT will take over for the next 6 weeks after Dover, and ESPN will cover the rest of the year. Also Kyle Busch won Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide Series History 300 at Charlotte, Kasey Kahne finished 2nd. ALL PHOTOS CAME FROM GOOGLE. I DID NOT TAKE THESE PHOTOS.This has been the Coca-Cola 600 recap, I'm Captain Josh, goodnight everybody.
