Xfinity Series Exclusive: Road America Recap

Hello everyone and welcome back to Captain Josh's Pit Stop. Today I have an exclusive recap of the Xfinity Series race from Road America. This is because of the Monster Energy Cup Series having an off weekend. I also want to note that Lewis Hamilton won the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday for Formula One. The Truck Series also had an off weekend. Now let's get this exclusive recap under way. Photo courtesy of Google images.

The Johnsonville 180 ran on Sunday afternoon with rookie James Davison on the pole in the Joe Gibbs #20 car with another rookie Austin Cindric alongside. Cindric is a regular in the Truck Series. The first and second stages consisted of 10 laps, with the final stage being 25 laps, making up the 45 lap race. Photo courtesy of Google images.

I apologize for not having a photo to show. The first incident occurred on lap 5 in stage 1. Ryan Sieg went off track in the kink, which is part of the track. Also, Scott Lagasse Jr went off track in a separate turn and went into the gravel trap. Both drivers continued on.

Polesitter James Davison won stage 1. He led most of the opening stage. Photo courtesy of Google images.

Another Truck regular, Christopher Bell, also ran the Xfinity race. He didn't have a good day however, as he would go off track in stage 2 at lap 14 with 7 to go in the stage. Bell went off in the same spot as Lagasse Jr did earlier in the race. Photo courtesy of Google images.

Stage 2 began to heat up, as the Xfinity regulars tried to get stage points towards the end of the stage. Ryan Reed tried a bit too hard going into turn 1 at the end of stage 2 with 2 to go in the stage. Reed would later crash as shown above in the race. Photo courtesy of Google images.

Daniel Hemric took home stage 2. He led towards the end of the stage. There was also a credit on the final lap as well involving James Davison and Ross Chastain. Photos courtesy of Google images.

At the end of the day, Jeremy Clements moved Matt Tifft out of the way with 2 laps to go to win his first career Xfinity Series win. Hope you enjoyed this exclusive recap. Next week, NASCAR goes back in time to the 80's for throwback weekend at Darlington. The Truck Series heads to Canada for their race. See ya then. Bristol Night Race Recap

Welcome back to Captain Josh's Pit Stop. Tonight I recap the action from Bristol. The Trucks, Xfinity, and Monster Cup Series all raced at Bristol this weekend. Well the Truck Series raced on Wednesday night, with Kyle Busch taking the victory. Busch also won the Xfinity race on Friday night. Formula One is still in their summer break, and will be back actually next weekend for the race at Spa in Belgium. I may of said in the last blog that it was this past weekend but I was wrong. My apologies. Now onto the Cup race. Photo courtesy of Google images.

The Bass Pro Shops NRA 500 ran on Saturday night with rookie Erik Jones earning his first career pole in the Cup Series, with Kyle Larson alongside. Stage 1 and 2 consisted of 125 laps, with the final stage making up the final 250 laps. The race was a total of 500 laps around the half mile concrete track. Photo courtesy of Google images.

Brad Keselowski had a rough race and the bad luck started early in the race. Keselowski cut a tire on lap 5 in stage 1 after making contact with Ty Dillon. Photo courtesy of Google images.

Another driver who had a bad night was Aric Almirola. He would have trouble in stage 1 as he hit the wall in turn 2 with 59 to go in the stage. Almirola also had trouble later in the race in the final stage at lap 326 where he cut a tire. Photo courtesy of Google images.

Kyle Busch continued his success through the weekend as he held off Kyle Larson and Erik Jones to win stage 1 after a great finish to the stage. Photo courtesy of Google images.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr had his day cut short when he also hit the wall off turn 2 in stage 2 with 49 to go in the stage. I apologize for not having a photo. I couldn't find one as I use Google images to get my photos.

The night continued on, and it also wasn't good for JTG Daugherty Racing, as both of drivers made contact in stage 2 with 29 to go. AJ Allmendinger made contact with teammate Chris Buescher, which resulted in Allmendinger cutting a tire and forcing him to pit. There was no caution for the incident. Photo courtesy of Google images.

The action heated up in the final stage, as Austin Dillon spun in turn 3 and collected Jeffrey Earnhardt. Both crashed and were out of the race. Kasey Kahne also suffered damage trying to slow down and he got into the back of Joey Gase in the #23 car. Kahne continued on however. Photos courtesy of Google images.

Matt Kenseth took home stage 2 after staying out under the previous caution to gain track position to win the stage. Photo courtesy of Google images.

Also in the final stage, Kurt Busch hit the wall in turn 4 as well. The incident occurred in the final stage at lap 276. I apologize that the photo isn't accurate. I was unable to find a photo of Busch hitting the wall, so I found one of his car for the weekend. This photo is courtesy of Google images.

Chase Elliott also had an end to his night in the final stage as he made contact with Kevin Harvick off turn 2 and spun into the inside wall. Photo courtesy of Google images.

Another driver who had an end to his night in a big way was Landon Cassil. Cassil spun off turn 2 and hit the inside wall so hard that he bounced back into the outside wall into turn 3. Cassil was uninjured in the crash. The incident occurred in the final stage with 84 to go. Photo courtesy of Google images.

And the winner of the Cup race was none other than Kyle Busch. Busch once again swept all three races in the same weekend. He also did this in the summer of 2010 as well. But it wasn't easy, as Busch had to hold off a hard charging Erik Jones. Well that's it for tonight. The Cup Series is off this coming weekend, but the Xfinity Series will be at Road America and I believe the Truck Series will be in Canada for their race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. So tune in for an exclusive recap of the Xfinity race since I always recap the Cup race in detail with photos. Photos courtesy of Google images.

Michigan Recap

Hello and good evening everyone and welcome back to Captain Josh's Pit Stop. Tonight I recap the weekends action from Michigan. The Xfinity Series raced at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Saturday with hometown driver Sam Hornish Jr picking up the win in the Penske #22 Ford. Darrell Wallace Jr won the Camping World Truck Series race at Michigan, but it was announced today that the win was encumbered after his truck failed post race inspection. Formula One is still in their summer break, but will be back this weekend in Belgium. Onto the Monster Energy Cup race. Photo courtesy of Google images.

The Pure Michigan 400 ran on Sunday afternoon with hometown hero Brad Keselowski winning the pole with teammate Joey Logano alongside. The first and second stages consisted of 60 laps, with the final stage making up the final 80 laps. The race was 200 laps, 400 miles. Photo courtesy of Google images.

Not much happened in the first stage. Brad Keselowski took home the stage win after leading the whole stage. Photo courtesy of Google images.

The day ended early for Derrike Cope late in stage 2. Cope had an engine failure off turn 2 with 4 to go in the stage. Photo courtesy of Google images.

The action heated up once again in the final stage with Kasey Kahne and Daniel Suarez colliding off turn 2 after Kahne thought he had cleared Suarez while trying to pass him. I was unable to see the lap it occurred on, but it occurred in the middle of the final stage. Photos courtesy of Google images.

There seemed to be a lot of incidents off turn 2. Michael McDowell spun off that corner after contact from Paul Menard sent the #95 car spinning. Menard also suffered damage, but not much to hinder his race. Photo courtesy of Google images.

The race would go into overtime after the Menard/McDowell incident. Martin Truex Jr had the lead but lost it on the restart to Kyle Larson, who went on to win his 3rd straight win at Michigan. One thing I want to mention, as a change to the overtime line was made. It was moved to the start finish line instead of in the middle of the backstretch. There had been some controversy surrounding the overtime line. Just wanted to point that out. And that's all for tonight folks. Next week, NASCAR heads to the short track at Bristol. Gonna be a much better race in my opinion. I will see ya then. Goodnight everyone. Photos courtesy of Google images.

Watkins Glen Recap

Good evening and welcome back to Captain Josh's Pit Stop. Tonight I recap the action from the road course at Watkins Glen. The Xfinty and Cup Series held races there on Saturday and Sunday. Kyle Busch won his 90th career Xfinity win in the Zippo 200 on Saturday. Formula one is on a summer break and the Truck Series was also off as well. Also in other news, it has been reported that Kasey Kahne will be out of the #5 Hendrick Motorsports car and will be replaced by rookie sensation William Byron in 2018. Byron is currently in the Xfinity Series driving for JR Motorsports. Also, Ryan Blaney will move from the Wood Brothers #21 to a third Penske entry in 2018 and will drive the #12 car. Paul Menard will take his place in the #21 car with the Menards sponsor accompanying him also. Hope you got all the "silly season" ride swaps. Now onto the Cup race. Photo courtesy of Google images.

The I Love New York 355 ran on Sunday with Kyle Busch once again on the front row with Kyle Larson alongside. It was the battle of the Kyle's on the front row. The first and second stages consisted of 20 laps with the final stage making up the final 50 laps. The race was 90 laps in full. Photo courtesy of Google images.

Not much happened in the first stage. Kyle Busch led from the pole to take the stage win. Busch would then have problems in the pits under caution flag pit stops, as he reported a loose wheel to his crew chief. Photo courtesy of Google images.

Daniel Suarez used some pit strategy to take home stage 2. It was the first stage win of the season for Suarez. Photo courtesy of Google images.

The action heated up in the final stage as Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch made contact and spun in the bus stop chicane. The incident occurred at lap 45. Photos courtesy of Google images.

The final caution of the day occurred when Landon Cassil cut a tire after contact with another car in the bus stop. Also during pit stops, Kevin Harvick had an end to his day when he hit the back of Brett Moffitt while exiting his stall and suffered damage to the front of his car. The incident occurred in the final stage with 41 to go. Photo courtesy of Google images.

And the fuel saving began due to the green flag run to the finish. Ryan Blaney had the lead with 3 to go, but ran too hard and ran himself out of fuel. Martin Truex Jr had backed up his pace as far as four seconds off to save fuel, and it paid off with the victory. It was Truex Jr's 4th win of the season. That's all for now folks. Next week, NASCAR heads to Michigan for second time this year. See ya then for the recap. Photos courtesy of Google images.

Pocono Recap

Good evening everyone and welcome back to Captain Josh's Pit Stop. Tonight I recap the weekends action from Pocono Raceway. Also the Xfinity Series ran at Iowa Speedway with Ryan Preece getting his breakout win in the Joe Gibbs number 20 car on Saturday afternoon. Justin Haley took home the ARCA win at Pocono on Friday. Christopher Bell also won the Truck Series race at Pocono on Saturday. Now to recap the Cup race. Photo courtesy of Google images.

The Overton's 400 took place on Sunday with Kyle Busch earning the pole with Martin Truex Jr qualifying alongside. An interesting thing about qualifying this weekend was that it was held on Sunday morning. It was the first time that the Cup Series qualified and raced on the same day in years. The first and second stages consisted of 50 laps. The final stage made up the final 60 laps. Photo courtesy of Google images.

It didn't take long for the first caution to come out, as it came out on lap 1 in stage 1. Matt Kenseth broke loose underneath Jimmie Johnson in turn 3 and it caused a multiple car wreck including Danica Patrick, Chris Buescher, and Aric Almirola as shown above. Photos courtesy of Google images.

Kyle Busch took home the Stage 1 victory. He lead the whole thing. Photo courtesy of Google images.

Jimmie Johnson had a rough day for the second straight time this year at Pocono. Johnson had reported a cut tire and was slowing down. As he slowed down, he was spun by his teammate Kasey Kahne. The incident occurred in stage 2 with 44 to go in the stage. Photos courtesy of Google images.

Kyle Larson had problems as well. He reported a drive line issue and started shedding debris from the back of his car. Larson was out of the race. The incident occurred in the middle of stage 2. Photo courtesy of Google images.

Clint Bowyer took home stage 2 after using strategy to win the stage. Photo courtesy of Google images.

At the end, not much happened in stage 3. Kyle Busch used a strategy during the long green flag run. He chose to stay out a little bit longer than everyone else to have fresher tires at the end of the race. This strategy helped him pick up his first Pocono win and broke his winless streak dating back to Indianapolis last year. But his team was once again caught with loose lug nuts early in the week after post race inspection. The team was fined $10,000 but no crew members were suspended. Well I hope you enjoyed tonight's blog. Join me next week as I recap road course racing from Watkins Glen. See ya then. Photo courtesy of Google images.
